When it comes to websites, one size doesn’t fit all

Tailored website

In my wardrobe at home, I have one particular shirt…  I bought this shirt about 7 years ago.

It looks great, it’s a lovely colour, it has a great design and looks expensive.

It doesn’t fit..

The problem is, it looked amazing on display but never fitted and wasn’t right for me and probably never will be.

That shirt is a bit like a website.

Lots of people are sold a standard template website, despite the person selling it not finding out if it was right for them in the first place.

One of the first questions I ask a potential website client is what they actually want the website for.

For some people they want a brochure style site to act as an extension of their business card.

For other clients, it’s getting found by local potential clients that is the most important.

For others it’s about having a website they can edit and tweak themselves to share their thoughts with their followers.

And for some clients, they just need a basic one page introduction site.

When thinking about your new website, there’s a few things you need to consider before even considering what solution you go for.  These include what the site is for, what your budget is, who you are targetting with the client, whether you have the technical skills to build and grow it yourself.

So before you get sucked into buying a website solution that isn’t right for you, stop and consider these fundamental questions.

As always, I’m happy to answer any website questions you might have.
